Spellbound “Lost Keys”

An installation exhibit conceived by the artist NARI Ward, and is now until June 7, 2015 on exhibit Savannah Georgia at The SCAD Museum of Art.

It’s in homage to the area’s history and culture. The installation uses anthropological recordings, sound samples and footage gathered by film maker Steven Rose set to original improvisational composition “Lost Keys” by Zubetei and Sweet Lee, a talented woodwind musician/composer I am currently collaborating with on the ongoing project, “Mitos de Sisifo”, initiated by Zubetei, Fred White and GIP in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The NARI Ward, Steven Rose video is on a Flat Screen TV placed on the back of a key adorned upright Piano, while  the commissioned composition fills the space. The core arrangement is derived from the Muscogee Indian lullaby (melody pictured below). The Muscogee girl’s song was recorded by Alan Lomax part of his rich audio archive of 20th century American people.
